Up-and-Comers is a weekly series where I highlight impressive lifts from the last week, performed by lesser-known but talented and hard-working powerlifters who are on their way to making waves in the sport.
Trever Bowlus - 307.5 kg/678 lbs Squat (772.5 kg total)
At only around 182 pounds bodyweight and just a few meets under his belt, Trevor has managed to put up a mean 772.5 kg total. What’s most impressive to me is his ridiculous squat, putting him near the top 10 83 kg squats ever. The 83 kg class continues to get wilder, and Trevor stands as a strong testament to that.
Julia Williams - 100 kg/221 lbs x 8 Bench
Julia is seen here smashing her best bench from a meet in training for a set of 8. In just a few days, Julia will be competing at The Showdown in the 60kg class alongside some of the strongest names in powerlifting. I look forward to seeing her potentially break the 500 DOTS barrier this weekend.
Jessica Kinney - 500 kg total
At only 21 years old and 167 pounds bodyweight, she’s managed to put up an absolutely astonishing total, solidifying her ranking as one of the top juniors in her class with years left to further solidify her standing. Competitors in the 76 kg class would be wise to watch their backs!
